Our Mission
Why this site exists and what we want travelers to take away from it.
Polar expedition cruises are expensive, infrequent, and hard to compare. A traveler researching a South Georgia voyage usually finds each operator's own marketing site — never a side-by-side view of ship size, landing methodology, regulatory standing, and price across the operators actually running the same route.
This site exists to close that gap for one specific itinerary: the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, and Falkland Islands route most commonly associated with Lindblad Expeditions. We break down what's actually different between operators — not what their marketing emphasizes — using verifiable attributes like passenger capacity, IAATO compliance, and published pricing.
What we want travelers to walk away with
A clear answer to three questions before booking:
- What does this itinerary actually include?
- How does ship size affect the on-the-ground experience — specifically, landing methodology under IAATO's 100-guest rule?
- Which operators on this exact route are worth comparing before committing to one?
Our position on Lindblad
We're not trying to talk anyone out of booking with Lindblad — it's a well-regarded operator with a long Antarctic history, strong expedition teams, and the backing of the National Geographic Society. We're trying to make sure travelers know what else is running the same route, and why ship size matters more on this particular itinerary than most marketing copy explains.
The IAATO 100-guest landing limit is a regulatory mechanism, not an editorial opinion. Any operator running ships above 100 passengers in Antarctica and South Georgia must rotate landing groups to comply. That's a factual difference with practical consequences for how much uninterrupted shore time guests actually get.
What we are and aren't
We are an independent editorial site. We are not a booking agency, a travel agent, or an operator affiliate. Some links on this site may earn us a commission if you book through them; see our Editorial Policy for full disclosure. No operator pays for ranking position.
